GP Service

Our routine GP services are for the management of chronic illnesses, patient reviews of medication management and general check-up.

Our Same Day Clinic is operated by a nurse and GP and is for the sudden onset of acute illness or injury. This clinic is not for the management of chronic conditions.

Antenatal / Postnatal Care

Antenatal care is provided by the Maternity & Infant Care Scheme. This scheme is a shared service delivery between our midwife and GP team in Living Health and your Maternity Hospital Care team.

The scheme allows for six free GP visits throughout the pregnancy with certain conditions related to the pregnancy allowing extra visits.

The scheme also covers two GP visits after the baby is born which is the baby’s check at two weeks and both the mother and baby check at six weeks.

The scheme does not cover any incidental visits which are unrelated to the pregnancy and after delivery, only covers the two-week baby check and the six week mother and baby check free of charge.

Contraception

We provide all services supported by the HSE Free Contraceptive Care Scheme (FCC Scheme) to patients covered by this scheme. These same services are provided to all patients who are presently not covered by the FCC Scheme and you can enquire of the costs of these services with your GP secretary.

The GP will discuss contraception options in detail with you to help decide the best option suited to you. Special procedure contraception (fitting of Implanon and Mirena) must be discussed in advance at an earlier consultation with the doctor. This helps the doctor determine the most suitable form of contraception and to eliminate any possible problems.

Minor Surgery

Our GP team will counsel patients on removal of cysts, skin lesions, in-growing toe nails and joint injections. All procedures are consented in advance, performed in the surgery under local anaesthesia and follow up dressing clinics are arranged, where appropriate. Some larger or more complex lesions may need secondary referral for a further opinion. We can assess such lesions and arrange referral for specialist opinion as appropriate.

Patients with appropriate insurance cover may be able to avail of these services using their insurance.

Cryotherapy

We offer safe management of certain skin lesions using liquid nitrogen. Cryotherapy can be suitable for the treatment of simple warts, verrucae, skin tags, seborrheic keratosis and certain other conditions.

Drivers Licence

Our GPs can complete driving licence application forms and carry out eyesight tests. Please ensure that you arrive to your appointment with your optician eyesight report, if it is a requirement of your licence application.

Medico Legal and PMA Reports

Our GP team can facilitate appointments and report preparation where the request is received from a solicitor, insurance company or member of An Garda Siochana.
